Obituary of Richard Patrick
PATRICK, RICHARD
It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Richard Patrick, on April 21, 2023 at 62 years of age.
Cherished husband and soulmate of 40 years, to Maria (Mo) nee Simonetti, and proud and loving father to Kristina. Loving son of the late Marion Patrick. Survived by sister Cheryl. Predeceased by siblings, Laura and Kevin. Dearest son-in-law to Villa Simonetti (2020) and Teresa Simonetti (2019). Rick will be sadly missed by his brother-in-law, Giacinto aka Jesse (Marie-Claire) Simonetti, and sister-in-law Clara aka Simm (Douglas) Couvillon. Uncle to Gabriel and Sebastien (Dina-Marie).
Rick's family and friends are now reflecting on the many happy memories and adventures they shared with him.
Rick was a skilled diesel mechanic, having started his journey in the trades at a young age. He obtained his Truck/Coach Interprovincial License at Centennial College in Toronto and worked for various trucking companies in Windsor and Toronto (for a brief time). Later in life he took a sabbatical and attended Queen's University to obtain his teaching degree. Upon completion, he taught Automotive with the WECCDSB at St. Joseph's and Holy Names High Schools for several years. He returned back to the trades and worked for Daimler Chrysler Transportation, where he ended his career.
Rick had many skills and talents, too many to list and exceled in all of them. He loved photography, even having one of his beautiful photos displayed at the local Kodak shop in Windsor. He was a certified Scuba Diver (PADI), avid kayaker, and canoeist. He was a devoted family man. From early on in their marriage, his love for nature and the outdoors, brought the three of them on many camping road trips across Canada and the US, or off sailing, always an adventure to be had. He loved his cats, and was heartbroken when losing his elderly cat last year.
Always one to lend a hand to anyone in need.
But his true life's passion lied in sailing. Later on in their lives, Rick and Mo sailed their boat to various places. Spending a few summers in the North Channel, helping to deliver an America's Cup Yacht to Chicago. He was also a crew member that participated in a Port Huron to Mackinac Race. Chartering sailboats in the British Virgin Islands, having enjoyed many cruises as well. Rick was a past member of South Port Sailing Club and Riverside Marina.
His passion for sailing was endless. Although Rick's life was cut short, he accomplished a life's worth of adventures.
Rick will be forever missed...until we meet again. He is now setting sail on heaven's ocean... Sail on...
