Obituary of Mario Tavolieri

Passed away peacefully on April 6, 2023 at the age of 78. Dear husband of Anna for 57 years. Cherished father of Giovanni (Nicolina) and Marco (Ann-Marie). Loving nonno to Mario, Marina, John-Marco, Mariana, and Michael. Predeceased by his parents Marco Tavolieri and Carmela Fanone and in-laws Giovanni Tavolieri and Cesidia Tullio. Brother to the late Oreste (late Anna) Tavolieri, Late Luigi (late Rosa) Tavolieri, Guglielmina (Domenico) Guglietti, Gina (Antonio) Lopresti, Bruno (Late Carolyn) Tavolieri and Franca (Saturnino) Scalzo. Proud zio to many nieces and nephews.

Mario was a proud Italian-Canadian, having been born in Alvito, Italy and then emigrating to Canada. He was a devoted family man, with his happiest moments being the births of his grandchildren. He was an incredibly hard worker and a proud City of Windsor Public Works employee for nearly thirty years. His shining moment was receiving the Customer Service Excellence award from the Mayor for his dedication and commitment. Mario was the best friend you could have, loyal to a fault and always ready to help a friend in need. He was a passionate fan of the Italian National Soccer team and cried every time he heard the Italian national anthem. That passion was even greater for his teams, having coached many youth soccer teams for both Ciociaro and Caboto Clubs for over 25 years.He always had a smile on his face and a friendly wink of an eye. We will miss him dearly and remember him fondly for being “Rough and Tough”
