Obituary of Alice Margaret Evangeline Akerly
AKERLY, Alice Margaret Alice Margaret Evageline Akerly left this world suddenly and peacefully at the age of 96 on July 23,2012 with family at her side. She is now happily reunited with her husband Bert (1999). Dear mother of Nancy Sennema and husband William, Klig Akerly and Benjamin (deceased) and Carol Starr and husband, Chalkie Davies. Alice was the treasured Nana of Jesse, Richard and wife Margaret, Christine, Katherine and husband Christopher. She was the Great Nana of Justin (and partner Jackie), Nicolas and Jacob and the Great, Great Nana of Mikayla, Kaylee and Brandon. Mom was a lifetime member of the I.O.D.E. She devoted over 40 years of her life as an interpeter living on behalf of her deaf parents Ambrose and Jessie Kelly. She enriched the lives of many in the Deaf community members through her work for School of the Deaf in Winnepeg. Alice was an active member of the Baptist churches in Middleton, N.S., Thompson, M.B. and in Missisauga, O.N. She was an avid bridge player and a master of knitting. Her grandchildren wanted a special mention of how her Nova Scotian molasses brown bread will be so sorely missed. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Heron Terrace, especially in Look Out Point, for the exceptional care and special attention they gave Alice over these past few years. Cremation has taken place. A service will be held on Saturday, July 28th at 12 noon at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. at Banwell Rd.
