Obituary of Frank Gacnik Sr.

GACNIK, Frank Sr. 76 years. Passed away peacefully on March 1, 2009 at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 46 years to Julia (nee Ihan). Loving father to Frank Jr. Gacnik and Mark Gacnik; both of Windsor. Predeceased by parents Antun and Ana Gacnik and brother Antun Gacnik and surviving wife Maria of Slovenia. Dear brother to Ana Markovic and late husband Ludvic, Joze Gacnik and late wife Justi, Martin Gacnik and wife Mihela, Vinko Gacnik and wife Mida, all of Slovenia; Louie Gacnik and wife Slava of St. Catharine's Ont. Also survived by nieces and nephews in Canada and Slovenia. Mr. Gacnik was a retired employee of Chrysler Canada after 30 years of dedicate service, a member of C.A.W. Local 444, and the Slovenski Dom. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers Wednesday at 8 p.m. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Most Precious Blood Church (1947 Meldrum Rd. & Tecumseh Rd. E.) for visitation from 11:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Diabetes Association. A heartfelt thank you to the Staff at Heron Terrace, especially nurses Daniella, Bruna, Amy, Debbie, and Jeff for their compassion and care shown to Frank and his family. Also special thanks to the 5th floor nursing staff at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus along with Dr. Kizis and Dr. McFarlane for the excellent care provided to Frank during his stay.
