Obituary of Leonard Gerard Desjardins
DESJARDINS- Rev. Fr Leonard
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Fr. Leonard Desjardins at the age of 65 years on November 15, 2024. He is reunited with his loving parents, Ervin “Pete” Desjardins (October 31, 2024) and Lucille Blanche (nee Mailloux) (1979).
Adored deeply by his sisters and brothers Patricia (Jim) Anger, Karen, late Mike (2015), Doug (Laurie), Lisa (Tom) Rindlisbacher, Laurie (late Ron) McCollom. Forever cherished by his loving neices and nephews.
A man of deep faith he served in many parishes throughout the London Diocese serving as Pastor of St. Mary of Perpetual Help, (Hessin ON), Sacred Heart (Sarnia), Precious Blood Parish (Exeter ON), Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish (Mount Carmel, ON), and as an Administrator of St. Michael Parish (Bright's Grove, ON) He was an Associate Pastor at Blessed Sacrament Parish, (Chatham ON), Most Precious Blood (Windsor), St. Theresa Parish (Windsor), Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish (Windsor), Sts. Cyril and Methodius Parish (Windsor).
A person of many talents such as quilt making, playing guitar, singing, sewing and theatrical set design. Len has received awards for his involvement with the Stratford Theatre.
Len has redefined resilience and courage as he endured his struggle with IPF. Through strength, faith and determination he made the most out of his time left with us.
The siblings would like to extend a special thanks to all family and friends for their continued support throughout this journey. Leonard often expressed his deep appreciation for Allan at ProResp. Thanks also to Dr. Rukavina for honouring Leonard’s end of life wishes.
Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel - Banwell Chapel (11677 Tecumseh Rd E) on Thursday November 21, 2024 from 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Anne’s Parish on Friday, November 22, 2024 where visitation will continue from 10:00 am until time of mass at 11:00 am. Cremation will take place and burial to take place at a later date. If you so desire, memorial donations in Fr. Leonard’s honour can be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
