Obituary of Velma Marcon

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear wife, Velma Marcon, on June 9, 2024, after a long and brave struggle with brain cancer.

Born on Christmas Day 1955 to James and Rose Zambunis, Velma grew up in a loving and happy environment. She enjoyed a long and successful career with Hiram Walker, Allied Domecq and Shaw Ross/Southern Glazers in the United States.

Married to Mark Marcon for 29 years and loved and respected by my many relatives in the Naccarato, Todesco and Cocchetto families.

Extra special thanks to my loving cousin Renee Santarossa and her daily support.

Velma had a very special and most loving relationship with her godchild Anne Marie Aubry, Anne Marie’s husband Charlie and Anne Marie’s father Dennis Grubka. Velma’s sister in spirit, Erica Sheppard and her partner Doug Anderson greatly supported her during her long and difficult journey.

No words can ever express my thanks to Rafael and Elizabetta Turchi and their family for their tremendous support and love during Velma’s very difficult journey. Very much loved and supported by her cousin Gona Stefanovski and family and her cousin Irene Ditouris and family. The love and support shown by Velma’s cousins was wonderful.

Velma and I were inseparable and shared an intense love and deep devotion to each other, and to our cats, Mickey, Tiger and Little Grey.

Velma was my wife and my life.

A visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E. (519-253-7234) on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. My Dearest and Most Beloved Wife Velma,

Today marks the second year that I have lost you. Time passes, but my heart still breaks every day at what you endured on your long journey. The days are bleak, empty and meaningless without you by my side or in my arms. I miss your warmth, your smile, your happiness and the many things you did daily that enriched our lives together. Only our “Kit-Kats”  give me some solace and comfort.

Your love, kindness, consideration and respect were always there.  We held hands constantly, during walks and even in the car. We sat on the couch together, side by side and you always slept in my arms.

Your business acumen, professionalism, respect and courtesy for all your business colleagues earned you their respect and admiration in return. The President of one of the largest multinational companies in North America said it the best;

“There will never be another Velma”.

You are loved forever, always remembered and kept alive in our hearts by the memories of our 33 wonderful years together.

A time for us, at last to see
A life worthwhile, for you and me

And with our love, through tears and thorns
We will endure, as we pass surely through every storm
A time for us, some day there'll be, a new world
A world of shining joy for you and me.

A Time for Us; Romeo and Juliette Suite –Nino Rota (Composer)

You once wrote in a Valentine’s Day card to me; “As long as we are together there is nothing that we cannot overcome or conquer”.

And this was true.

All Our Love,

Mark, Mickey Poo-Bear, Tiger Baby and Little Grey Kitty
