Our condolences to Dora and Joseph and the rest of the family. Danny and Dora have always been a part of our extended family. We have enjoyed many great meals at the Red Sail and Danny helped Harold out with a number of events. My favourite memory is when he and Dora showed up to cheer my daughter on at her basketball final. When one of her teammates asked who he was she replied, “That’s my Uncle Danny!”

This is heartbreaking news to me and my wife. I met Danny in grade eight when he first came to Canada. We became friends in Miss Fox's class. Years passed and around 1974 I started delivering food for Danny and his restaurant for a couple of years. Over this time I got to know Danny much better, and his entire family too. We had so much fun, and talked about many things together.
My wife Alexandra and I left Windsor shortly after we were married in 1979. A wonderful memory is when Danny and Dora came to visit us on Vancouver Island. I'm attaching two photos. One is of Danny and me at the Windsor Airshow, circa 1974. I was selling airshow t-shirts off a folding table at the airport entrance, and I was selling pop for Danny at the same time. Danny had a great sense of humour, as you can see in the photo where he's wearing a necktie and a WW 2 flying hat. Danny showed up at our wedding reception with my favourite Red Sail dish, Chicken Soo Gai. He felt we might get hungry in the middle of the night. Whenever we were able to come back to Windsor, It was wonderful to know that we could drop by the restaurant and be welcomed like family and be treated as if we were there just the week before, as if no time had passed.

My heart fell on the floor upon hearing news about the passing of cousin Danny. Dora and family, Unfortunately I am not in Ontario at the moment and I wanted to express my condolences to the family. Danny will always be remembered for his generosity and the catering of our Chinese courses at the Chinese New Year Gala every February for our Essex County Chinese Canadian Association (ECCCA) which was our major fundraiser at the Ciociaro Club. He also contributed his fine cooking at various other events such as preparing the food for our Carrousel of Nations Chinese Village for many years. I miss our meetings at the Red Sail Restaurant and your delicious food while we worked! Danny and Dora are always so welcoming and an important part of the ECCCA. Thank you Danny for your contributions and sharing your passion for our Chinese culture through your cooking over the years.

Dora always had sesame balls made on special order at our mother Carmen’s request. Sadly, we lost her last year at the age of 69. I met Danny when we started grade 9 at Walkerville Collegiate in 1968. He was in my brother Neil's homeroom class. Danny had an infectious laugh and always a big smile. He visited our home and was so respectful to my Mom.
I ate at the Red Sail many times and he always took time to come out to our table and say hello and chat.
