Obituary of Luigi Bertolissio

BERTOLISSIO, Luigi July 11, 1930-Jan 24,2020 Luigi was born and raised in Bonzicco, al Tagliamento, Provincia di Udine (North East Italy). Son of Giobatta and Adriana. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Maria, his sons Carlo (Christina), Adriano (late Lisa), and surprise gift daughter Amy (Mathew), also Adela (sister in-law, Italy). Adored nonno of Melissa (Antonio), Brian, Adriana (Antonio), Harrison and Sofia. Uncle to many nieces and nephews, both here and in Italy. Predeceased by brother Giuseppe (Italy) and sister Maria Cossarini (Windsor). Luigi was a kind, compassionate, hard worker, who loved to garden and make his own homemade wine. He was a construction labourer (Local 625). His life braved many accidents and near fatal injuries, each time he recovered and kept returning to his job, as husband, father provider and friend. The final journey in his life starts with Luigi walking slowly into the hospital, and now in spirit he returns, stronger than ever, to look over us. Our memory of him taught us how to be someone to lean on, a good friend, and so much more. He is greatly missed, but we feel him around us, guiding us to be the best we can be. Luigi was a proud member of the Fogolar Furlan Club, the Caboto Club, and belonged to the Santo Nome Society of Saint Angela Merici Church. A special thank you to all Doctors, Nurses and Staff that cared for Luigi at the Hospital (Ouellette Campus, 5th floor). Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East, 519-253-7234, on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Prayers Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Services Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 8:45 a.m. from the Funeral Home, then to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. If so desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor or the Heart and Stoke Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences and cherished memories may be made at www.windsorchapel.com
