Obituary of Martin "Baja" Štimac

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Martin (Baja) on the morning of January 20, 2023 in his 84th year. Cherished brother of Jure (Marica) Štimac, the late Josip (Ana) Štimac, Marija (Tony) Jelic, Mile (Manda) Štimac, Ana ‘Nada’ (Josip) Uremovic, Ivan (Ankica) Štimac, Mandica (late Ivan) Lulic. Proud and loving uncle to Kathy (Kevin) Koski, Mary (Mike) Crow, Ana (Ivica) Zovko, Frank (Rachelle) Štimac, Frank (Monique) Štimac, Ante (Ivana) Štimac, Stefanie (Justin) Quinn, Steven (Katherine) Štimac, Nick Alivojvodic, together with their families, and many additional nieces and nephews in Croatia. Predeceased by his parents Marija (Hecimovic) and Franjo Štimac. Martin was born in Perusic, Lika, Croatia. He immigrated to Canada in 1963 on the quest for a better life, where he began working at Dominion Forge, and finished his career at General Motors. In his spare time, Martin loved to attend the race tracks and spend time with his brothers and sisters and their families. He was an extremely hardworking and generous man who loved to socialize and have a good time. Despite not having children of his own, he had a deep love for his nieces and nephews, always visiting and helping when he could. His ‘snack room’ will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate to know of it, and he will be deeply missed by all of those whose life he was a part of. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Location) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Monday January 23, 2023 from 4-8pm. Prayers at 7:30pm. Funeral services on Tuesday, January 24 at 10:15 am from the Funeral Home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Windsor and St. Francis of Assisi Building Fund.
