Obituary of Jozefa Rudnicki

Passed away after a valiant battle with cancer, with close family at her side on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 86 years of age. Beloved wife of Jozef “Joe” for almost 50 wonderful years. Predeceased by her mother (Zofia), father (Jozef), brother (Czeslaw) and sister (Wanda) in Poland. Loving mother “mama” to her son Richard and daughter-in-law Kinga (nee Kluska). Loving grandmother “babcia” to Matthew, Robert and Isabella. Josephine immigrated to Canada in 1965 and settled in Windsor where she enjoyed being part of and contributing to the vibrant Polish community.  In 1991, she helped establish the Windsor branch of the St. Stanislas-St. Casimir’s Polish Parishes Credit Union and worked there as an Assistant Branch Manager until her retirement.  Beyond work, she enjoyed volunteering at numerous community associations playing roles such as Financial Secretary at the Polish Alliance of Canada, Group 20 and Polish Week in Windsor Committees among others.  At home, she enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking (especially making delicious pierogies), stock trading and trying her luck at Casino Windsor. She also enjoyed being with animals and constantly pampered her 2 rescued cats. Above all, she cherished her role as a proud “babcia” to her 3 grandkids whom she adored beyond anything. She loved her daily phone calls with ‘Bobus’, the numerous cards and crafts she received from ‘Bella’ and fun and exciting conversations/debates on social and political topics with ‘Mateusz’. She was deeply grateful to the tremendous support and care she received from family, friends and Hospice Workers and especially from Elizabeth Kluska who offered her home and loving care during Josephine’s final moments. 

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel, (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E. 519-253-7234 on Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 3-5 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. with prayers at 3 P.M. A mass will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Holy Trinity Church at 1035 Ellis St. East, Windsor, Ontario. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jozefa may be made to The Windsor Regional Cancer Centre or Hospice Windsor.
