Obituary of Robert Cowden

COWDEN, Robert “Bob” July 6, 1928- February 3, 2021 Robert “Bob” Cowden, 92, of Windsor, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. In his early years he was an avid fast ball pitcher, even throwing a no hitter in one game. Self-taught businessman and mechanic, he owned Cowden’s Esso Service in Windsor for many years and was the president of ORGA (Ontario Retail Gasoline Association). For a short time prior to his early retirement at age 56, he worked for Marcels Body Shop and Allstate Insurance in the claims department. Over 29 years enjoying the life as a snowbird in Fort Myers Florida. Along with card night with friends, family gatherings, many fishing excursions, and no technology. Just a good conversation over a glass of Crown Royal. Beloved husband of the late Yvonne Marie Cowden (nee Maday) and was a kind and loving husband for 50 years to his surviving spouse, Shirley Cowden (Grondin, nee Ouellette). Predeceased by his parents Matthew and Agnes Cowden and his brothers Richard Cowden and Matthew Cowden. Surviving brother-in-law Dick Maday. Cherished dad of Pat (Richard) Bedard, Cheryl (Dave) Tessier, Tracy Grondin and Todd (Michelle) Grondin. Loving grandpa to Natalie (Jay), Chris (Larissa), Danielle, Angelique, Tammy, Marcie (David), Amy-Lynn, Josh (Krisztina), Mitch (Candice), Nick, Arielle, and Zack as well as many great-grandchildren Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Rd.
