My condolences to the family. I know you don't know me but I would be Herman's cousin. Herman Sr. was first cousin to my mother who says that he was her "Favorite Cousin". My mom, Emily (Solloway) Mader, lives with me and just turned 96 on February 16. She has many stories of her Uncle Joe who would have been Herman Sr's father. I found this notice when doing some searching for my family history. I worked with Herman at Sandwich for many years, and knew him as both a colleague and a friend. He was not only a gifted classroom teacher and mentor to many students, he was a role model for members of the Science Department. He gave his best and expected both students and staff to do the same. The Sandwich Science Department set standards of excellence that were recognized by universities across the province. Herman loved a good conversation over a glass of wine; he and Pat enjoyed hosting friends and family at their home in Tecumseh. My wife Anne has been a member of Pat's book club for almost 10 years and has fond memories of meeting Herman when Pat hosted members at their home. Both Anne and I will miss Herman and we offer our sincere condolences to the Bruckman family. Larry and Anne Carrick

To the family of my cousin Herman Bill and I participated on line in the funeral of Herman. We only knew each other for a short time in our lives but have a profound memory of the time of getting to know and the fun we had with each other. My condolences to Patricia and the family of Herman. I began my teaching career sharing the chemistry lab, Room 108, with Herman on shift with Herman for S.S.S and I for my alma mater, G.A.H.S. I can remember his fantastic attention-grabbing chemistry demonstrations, and I couldn't believe his chemical orders for the storeroom. Heavens, we had a bottle of Hydrofluoric acid in a high school storeroom. Most of all, I remember, and I hear Herman's gleeful and hardy laugh.

My condolences to Mr Bruckman's family. Mr. B was a teacher beyond compare and influenced me so greatly in high school and beyond. His kindness and quirky sense of humour were terrific especially when the content was getting you down. Special hugs to Andromeda and John with whom I shared my high school experience.

I was privileged to have Mr Bruckman as my chemistry teacher at Sandwich secondary in the 70s. He was truly an inspiration in teaching. Loved him as a teacher. When I married and moved to Tecumseh, I ran into him frequently during walks, at the store, and at the nursing home where his father resided. It was amazing that given all his years of teaching, and exposure to thousands of students, he remembered me. He continued to be an inspiration to many. He will be missed. Angela Lambing (Dominato)

Mr Bruckman was one of my teachers from yrs 73-77 . He was always happy and funny and you knew he was there because he cared and wanted to be there. I will always remember him.
