Obituary of Mijo Jagatic

With great sadness we announce the passing of Mijo, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Mijo was the beloved husband of Maria (Klasovska) for 53 years and the loving father of Karen (Brendon) of Hoboken, NJ and Jason (Jennifer Tomasik) of Providence, RI. He was the proud Deda to Kacey & Michael McNamara and Jane & Julianne Jagatic. Brother to Josip Jagatic (Anica) of Tecumseh, ON, cousin of Steve Bilicic (Boza) of London, ON and Josip Jagatic (Marica) of France. Dear relative of Steve and Kata Jagatic of Stoney Creek, ON. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada, the United States, Slovakia, Slovenia, England, and France.

Mijo was born in Lazina, Draganic, Croatia to Stjepan and Tereza Jagatic (nee Grahac). He emigrated to Canada in 1966 and retired from the Ford Motor Company after 32 years. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church and proud member of UNIFOR Local 200. Mijo was a man of the highest moral caliber with a loving heart and a caring soul, able to balance strength and kindness. He loved nature. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed building things in his perfectly organized workshop. There was never a nail out of place, or something in the house that he couldn’t improve.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Caroline Hamm and Kit McCann, as well as to the staff at Windsor Regional Cancer Centre (especially in Reception and the Lab) and Adriana Cmarada for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. Donald O’Neill and Dr. Steven Petrinac for their assistance and advocacy.

Deepest gratitude to the family and friends who have supported the family during this time, especially the Petrinac family, Tom “TJ” & Paulette Jagatic, Mary Jagatic, and our wonderful neighbours on Glicka Court.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519) 253-7234 on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from 2-5pm and 6:45-9pm.
