To Mike’s Family and Friends,
I was deeply saddened to read of Mike’s sudden passing. As an occasional teacher, I always found Mike to be one of the first to greet us with his welcoming smile. He kindly offered assistance to any teacher new to his school.
He was loved and respected by all staff and students.
Mike’s passing is a great loss to The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board. He will be missed.
My deepest sympathy to Mike’s family, friends and fellow staff members.
Sincerely,
Dianne Paterson

Mr Diamond was the best! His work ethic and pride in his work are the standards that I try to live up to daily. Also, he never yelled or got mad when I taught a messy art lesson. One of a kind, the world lost a good one

Mike was that friendly face, greeting all staff members as we began our days. I worked with him when he began at St. Bernard School. As students entered school he continued greeting them. When extra help was needed, Mike had a solution. I was so sorry to hear of his passing and wish Michelle and his family the comfort of dear friends.

Mike was the first guy I saw most mornings as I came into work - unlocking certain doors so I can bring in a bike to park inside. Shared building and maintenance stories, sports updates and jokes/pranks along the way. Always a smile and a laugh - I'll miss honking and yelling out my windows on drive bys - "It's your hallway Mike!" - Love and miss you my friend.

My sincere condolences to Mike's family. I worked with him for many years at St. Bernard School. He was a dedicated worker and a friend to all. He was an integral part of the St. Bernard team. He went above and beyond...I recall how he stayed to help with graduation or other events, came in on the weekend to help with the Grade 6 VIP car wash, and more. Our staff had some good times, and Mike was always part of the fun. Mike's family is in my prayers.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike when I worked at St. Bernard in Windsor. He always had a smile and positive attitude. He went above and beyond and took great care and pride in his work. He was always great with the kids talking to them and making them smile. We car pooled when we were on strike and he honoured me with the title picket wife. He would always as my husband, who worked with him at St Pius, how his picket wife was doing. What a tremendous loss to his family, friends, coworkers and school
community. May he Rest In Peace.

I worked directly with Mike at St. Puis as a custodian. I came to St. Puis two years ago, I heard of Mike through other custodians. They all told me he is an excellent caretaker and he takes great pride in his work. During the past two years he proved no wrong. He was prepared for any challenge that came his way. He put in 110% everyday. He loved his job! He taught me alot, without him even knowing it. We had alot of fun and laughs during the years. The hallways will not be the same without him.
Thank you Mike.

Every Monday morning I had the pleasure of being greeted by Mike with the warm smile of a friend when I visited St. Pius. He always took the time to ask about my family and keep me up to date on the news of the school. Over time, I learned that he was a gentle soul and a patient communication partner to students with exceptional communication needs. I often heard him asking about their weekend and interests, and taking the time to learn their unique communication needs and styles. He took great pride in his school, making it a safe and clean learning environment for the students and his colleagues. It is with deep sadness we mourn his passing. He will be greatly missed by many. ❤️

Hey Michelle I am so sorry for your loss. I know that Jesus is carrying you right now. Lean on him and seek comfort in him. Just like Psalm 34:18. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. I wish I could fly up but hopefully on my next trip up we can get together for a Canadian beer! You and your family will be in my prayers big hug!
