Our deepest sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with you during these trying times. Steve was a great brother-in-law and always had time for friends and family. A dedicated sportsman, he always took his sports very seriously and I have fond memories of playing touch football with him and his friends. I will always remember our many encounters as we passed each other on our daily cycling commutes at the end of the work day often stopping for a chat. Ian & Phyllis Laughland

Stephen, my buddy, my reliable friend. I say reliable because close to fifty years of memories have been built on this path from when we met. I have had the pleasure of knowing that you were someone who I could call and you were there. I’m happy, thankful and blessed for being able to call you Zeke, an extended brother. You certainly have enriched my life and everyone who has come to know you. Thank you once again Steve, you will be greatly missed! Love Terry, Tracy, Taylor & Cindy

Steve was so positive.I met him in 1981 when we worked in Banff. What a blast. A few years on and I saw how he dominated touch football and he was the ultimate go to guy on 3rd and short plays. His house was a shrine to family and sports, especially his Super Bowl parties. I wasn't an invitee, but would visit just to take in Steve's enthusiasm. He also favored a one-of-a-kind bevvy. Years on and soccer is the gig.
He's coaching his daughter and I am a referee. He kept time.
Only house league coach to use a stopwatch. It's people like Steve that make one realize how wonderful life can be.

My condolences to Steve's family. He was a wonderful man. Always kind to me growing up and a loyal, funny, kind friend to my brother Jeff. The boys grew up together experiencing life's highs and lows but their friendship continued for 56 years. That shows what kind of man Steve was. It was a privilege to have known him. He will be greatly missed. Genevieve Lucier

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my teammate and friend, Steve. He was always there to lend a hand and always had a smile on his face whenever we ran into him. He was a great football coach to our son, Martin and even had time to give Marcus a few bowling tips! We have great memories of all the times we shared together and the laughs we had. Rest in peace my friend. Until we meet again. Randy, Christine, Marcus and Martin Stengel

My condolences go out to Samantha Georgina Laura and all Steve’s family. Steve was always the first one at your house when you were moving to give you a hand. When you first join the team or the group of guys Steve was the first want to put his hand out and say hi and introduce himself. We had a riot playing football and I think Steve’s favourite floor hockey like we were teenagers. Thank you so much for the memories LOVE and respect always

We were shocked to hear the tragic news yesterday. Steve will always be remembered as a wonderful friend and a guy that would go the distance. Always willing to help, always willing to listen.
Taken way too soon. Our hearts go out to Laura, Samantha, Georgina, Bill, Susan and the entire Family. The world just lost a great guy.
Rest in Peace Steve,

Steve we had way more fun than either of us deserved. Thanks for the life time of concerts, vacations , parties and just hanging out. The ten hours you spent with Pam and I in the hospital waiting for Melissa to be born, the day after my Dad died. More then a friend, you were family. Look forward to the day when once again I sit with you and our buddy Tony. The many stories we will tell.
Gods speed and Rest In Peace my friend.
