Obituary of Jeannine Larocque
LAROCQUE, Jeannine
May 20, 1941 - March 31, 2022
Passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at the Hospice in Leamington, Ontario on March 31, 2022 at the age of 80 years.
Loved by her partner and best friend Norm Thomas for over 55 years. Loving mother and cherished by Claude (Karen) and Richard. Now reunited with her Parents and son Paul (2020). Survived by her three sisters, Yolanda, Angela, Rolande (Paul) and brother Bob (Pat). She will be dearly missed by her many in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Jeannine was dedicated to her family, respected, and loved by her many friends and all who knew her.
Born in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario and moved to Windsor with her whole family as a child. She graduated from St Mary’s Academy high school. Jeannine managed food services at the Sisters of the Holy Name convent for 24 years, and became an SNMJ Associate in 1990, volunteering her time in charity and ministry work. After being diagnosed herself in 2000, Jeannine founded and ran, with her late friend Sister Bernice Gignac, her own support center for women with cancer.
In her later years, Jeannine enjoyed nature scene photography and, on her computer, making postcards and framed pictures, which she gifted and sold at yard sales. She was an amazing cook. Her homemade tourtieres and turkey pies were always in high demand by family, friends, and at bake sales. She loved Christmas, and always started baking and decorating her home early in November for the Christmas season. Her hospitality was unending to family, friends, and visitors throughout the whole year.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Met Cancer Center, Hotel Dieu, and Bayshore Healthcare for their care over the years, and SNJM Associates and Religious for their prayers. Jeannine always remained positive and spoke very highly of our health care system and health care workers. Also, we would like to thank the staff at the Hospice in Leamington for their loving care in Jeannine’s final days.
Public visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00PM with Prayers at 4:30PM at Windsor Chapel, 3048 Dougall Avenue, Windsor. Funeral on Monday, April 4, 2022 11:00AM at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 2735 University Ave West, Windsor. Interment at Heavenly Rest.
