Obituary of Bernard Jakowiec

It is with sorrow filled-hearts we announce the passing of Bernard Jakowiec at the age of 68 due to complications from COVID-19. He passed away peacefully at his home in Windsor on January 21, 2021. Bernard was born August 21, 1952 in Korycin, Poland. His youth was heavily influenced by his passion for playing soccer. After arriving in Canada, he worked at Windsor’s GM plant for over 25 years until his retirement. During retirement, Bernard dedicated much of his time to helping others in his community by putting his trade skills to use. He was a devoted Catholic who attended mass every Sunday at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. He was the first president of the Polish Club in 1983 and was a large part of the Polish community. Bernard is survived by his loving wife Joanna, his eldest son Joshua and wife Monique, his son Isaac and wife Katelynn, his daughter Jessica, his sons Noah and Benjamin, his four grandchildren, Christian, Juliana, Dayna and Jacob, as well as his nephews Mark and Richard and wife Nadia and their sons Nicholas and Alex. He is the loving brother-in-law of Ursula and Christine. Bernard joins his late brothers, Wiktor and Stanislaw, as well as his late parents Salomea and Piotr. A devout Catholic, active community member, and handyman, Bernard will be missed profoundly, but never forgotten. For reasons related to the current COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation service offered. A memorial service for Bernard will be held and announced at a later date and time.
