Obituary of Nora Amelia Lopez

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Nana, sister-in-law and aunt, Nora Amelia (Millen) Lopez, peacefully on January 17, 2021.

Precious and devoted mother of Rose Ann (Jeff), Mary Catherine (Greig), and John Anthony (Renee). Cherished Nana of Martina, Sarah, John Joseph (Andrea), Allison (David), Melissa, Cheryl, Steven, and Matthew. She loved and cherished her grandchildren more than words can express. Mom has been reunited into her "Heavenly Home" with her loving husband Giuseppe (Joe), parents Rose and Joseph Millen, brothers Peter and Anthony. She joins her in laws Filomena and Antonio Durante, Luigi and Santina Lopez, Salvatore Lopez, cherished niece Maria Durante, nephew John Durante and Godson John Bitonti.

She will be sadly missed by her in laws, Luisa and Sam Bitonti, Caterina Lopez, Agostino and Gulietta Lopez. Mom will be remembered as a legend in our family and so beloved to her many nieces and nephews.

She worked at G. M. Trim for many years and enjoyed the work she did there and the many dear friendships she made along the way. Mom was extremely proud of her Lebanese heritage and learned to speak Italian when she married our father, it was important to her to be able to communicate with all of her in laws and learn the Italian language and traditions. Sunday dinners allowed her to highlight her wonderful cooking and baking talents. Family gatherings were always blessed with her beautiful singing of traditional Italian songs with her extended family around. She was happiest in those moments. She was steeped in her Catholic Faith with a devotion to St. Anne. Over the year’s mom made many pilgrimages to St. Anne de Beaupre.

A private family service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 with Liturgy of the Word at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County or to Heart and Stroke Foundation (Windsor). A Livestream link will be made available at www.windsorchapel.com, online condolences and cherished memories may be shared with her family as well.

Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,

That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand;

The angel said my place was ready,

In Heaven far above,

And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home,

For God looked down,

Smiled at me,

And told me “Welcome Home.”

So when tomorrow starts without me, Don’t think we’re far apart,

For every time you think of me,

I’m right there in your heart.
