Obituary of Evelyn Altenhof

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn Altenhof on January 18th 2022 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie ON. Evelyn was born in Dysart SK to parents George and Anne Oltean. Evelyn later moved to Windsor ON where she met the love of her life, Fredrick Altenhof. Fred and Evelyn married in 1958 and together they had 3 children who, although devastated by this loss, have wonderful memories that they will cherish forever: Dena Altenhof (Nelson Elliott), Karen Robson (Keith) and Jamie (Tracy). She was a loving grandmother to Shannon, Devon, Jessica and Tyler as well as great grandmother to Jack. She will be deeply missed by her sister Veronica Hendrick (late Michael) and brothers Jerry Oltean (Suzanne) and Robert Oltean (Valerie), sister in-law Carolina Altenhof (late John), as well as her cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Evelyn lived a full and rewarding life and every dog mom met had a special place in her heart. Mom had a tradition of handcrafting beautiful Christmas stockings for each of her children and as their families grew, she gifted each new family member with a stocking. Every Christmas as we take out these stockings and display them in our homes, we will look back and remember the amazing wife, mother and grandmother she was.
