Obituary of Theresa Hrovat

Theresa Hrovat (nee Znidarsic) passed away peacefully on Saturday December 14, 2019 at the age of 84. Growing up in Slovenia with parents (predeceased) Ignacij and Terezija along with sisters Minka, Ani and Ivanka she took a leap of faith and left the only place she’d known for a trip to Cleveland to visit family in 1962. There she met the love of her life and shared 51 happy years of marriage with her beloved husband Venc (2013) with whom she is now reunited. Together they raised their children Mary Hrovat, Anne (Charles) Markovich and John Hrovat (Kelley Frail). Her life was her family into which she wove her love of cooking and baking. Her kitchen was her canvas as she worked effortlessly creating one amazing meal after another. None left hungry especially her grandchildren Lee (Amy) Hrovat and Jim Hrovat who enjoyed the endless offerings at “Stara mama’s café”. Sadly, her “café” days had passed when her wonderful great-grandchildren Ayla and Vence Hrovat arrived. Growing old changes us all but the things that never changed with her were her beautiful glow, loving smile and her faith in God. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East., 519-253-7234 on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral Services on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church for Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
