Obituary of Ray Harrison

Our father passed away on November 12 at 9:29pm. In his last hours he was surrounded by laughter, silliness, love, and lots of music, which is exactly how he lived his life. Our father was shy and funny and prickly and only the people that made the effort to know him got to see how incredibly hilarious he was. Our father was generous and always on the side of the “underdog”. He was a gifted empath and would drench our sorrow with compassion, kindness and prayer. From birthday parties and camping trips to tennis and ping pong tournaments, wiping our tears, and often making us cry with laughter, our dad lived a good life. He always did his best to give us all the things he never had and we are so grateful that he was our dad. He leaves behind his beloved wife Aline and children: Michael (Karen) of Santa Barbara, Eric (Donna) of Aurora, Gisele (Dale) of Stoney Point, and grandkids Nathan and Emma of Aurora. Our dad also leaves behind his best friend Jailyn Constantineau and very special visitors: Jacqueline and Hannah Hopkins; Taryn Duffy; Gisele Kerry; Sue Carr; Jamie, Cole, Maycie, and Spencer Martineau; Bernadette and Rejane Marier; Patricia Dubois and Zoey Dominico; and Mary Tonietto. We are grateful for the loving attention our dad received from many of the staff at the Village at St-Clair. He loved his wife so much that in December 2015 he moved into a nursing home when she needed additional care, just so they could be together. They were often found sitting together, holding hands, reading the paper, eating candy bars, drinking gingerale, watching movies, listening to music and at times bickering so much they had to be separated. Our dad was born in England and graduated in Pharmacy in London in 1951. He moved to Canada in 1953 and worked for Liggets Pharmacy in Toronto and was later transferred to Cornwall. He married Aline Marier in 1957 and moved to Windsor in 1958, where he worked in several pharmacies, prior to managing Drug Trading from 1967 to his retirement in 1990. Predeceased by his parents Muriel (1965) and Oliver (1966). Family and friends are invited to visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E 519-253-7234 on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 11:30am until the time of his funeral service at 1:30pm. Burial to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation to Dara Farm Sanctuary would be appreciated by Ray’s family. Condolences and memories may be shared on his Tribute Wall at www.windsorchapel.com
