Obituary of Sister Irene Piche (Sister Rose Alberta)

PICHE, Irene (Sister Rose Alberta) January 31, 1919 – November 2, 2019 Peacefully, at Devonshire Seniors Residence, Windsor. Sr. Irene was a member of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary since 1939. She was a devoted teacher who loved music and art. Sr. Irene taught at St. Francis School in Windsor, and at St. Anthony and St Bernard Schools in Amherstburg. She was very involved with choirs and music both at St. John the Baptist Parish and at Marie Rose Music School. Upon retirement, and after years caring for her aging mother, Irene worked as Treasurer for the Sisters. Upon second retirement, Irene kept busy with baking, candle making, and liturgies. She was much loved for her cheerfulness and attentiveness both at our Peter St. retirement residence and then Devonshire Seniors Residence. Irene died peacefully surrounded by her SNJM community. She will be missed by her brother Andre, in Espanola and by her nephew Richard (Helen), as well as many nieces and nephews. We are grateful to Ann Hansen and Lila Naud who cared for Irene in her last years, and to the staff at Devonshire. Visitation at Assumption Church, Rosary Chapel, from 10 am Wednesday November 13, 2019, followed by Mass at 11:00 am.
