Obituary of Giovanni Stranieri

STRANIERI, Giovanni It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Giovanni, our loving Husband, Father and Nonno, on October 31, 2019 at the age of 76. Beloved husband and best friend to Caterina (nee Assisi) with whom he celebrated 47 years of marriage. Loving and devoted father to Gloria (Sam) Olivito, Dina (Paolo) DiCarlo. Cherished Nonno to Antonio, Adriana, Alessia and Avaya. Giovanni is predeceased by his parents, Domenico and Rosa Stranieri, in-laws, Rocco and Maria Assisi and Nicola Ziparo. He is survived and predeceased by many siblings, and survived by many nieces and nephews; all in Italy and Switzerland. Giovanni was a proud cabinet maker by trade, which he learned as a young boy. He was a determined and hardworking man who was very proud of his italian heritage and his family, especially being a proud nonno to his grandchildren. Giovanni displayed a great love for anything that was soccer, but especially his favourite soccer team, A.S. Roma. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hospice of Windsor, WRH, Met. Campus for their exceptional and compassionate care provided to Giovanni and our family. A special thank you to nurse practitioner, Angela Cipolla-Italiano, for your kindness, patience, support, compassion and dedication in our time of need. Friends will be received for visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. 519.253.7234 on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Parish prayers Monday at 4:30pm. Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 10am from the funeral home then to St. Angela Merici Church (980 Louis Ave.) for Funeral Mass at 11am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Giovanni, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Windsor-Essex County.
