Obituary of Linda Angela Conen

CONEN, Linda Angela (nee Bortolotto) January 6, 1930-July 27, 2019 Passed away peacefully at 89 years of age. Loving wife of the late August J. Conen (2009). Cherished mother to Susan Stifel (David) Easton, PA and David. Fun-loving Grandma to William and Elizabeth Stifel. Survived by brother in-law Joe Litkowich and sisters- in-law Blanche Bortolotto, Jane Maddock, Jo-Anne Bortolotto and Connie Conen. Predeceased by parents Aline and Giovanni Bortolotto, and siblings Julie Litkowich, Rose Zuiani (Enzo), Yolanda Lucier (William), Gord, Don (Mary), Al (Marg) and Raymond. Linda lived a good, long life. A lifelong resident of Remington Park, she loved the neighbourhood where she was born in the house her father built and continued to live in for the first 80 years of her life. Fiercely loyal to family and friends, strong and independent, always on the go, Linda lived life to the fullest. She had an incredible sense of humour, including a laugh that was loud and infectious. She loved being with people and she loved to talk! She could strike up a conversation with anyone-young or old-and her kindness shone through. While a devoted wife, mom and grandma, she was not defined by those roles. As one of the first in her large Italian family to graduate from high school (W.D. Lowe), she started her career in the billing office at Standard Paint and finished as the executive assistant to the company president at Rinshed-Mason. She was in no hurry to get married and shared many adventures with her siblings and her colleagues, many of whom remained lifelong friends. She waited until her late 30’s to marry-after she and Gus fell in love at work. Once her children were born, she threw her organizational skills to good use volunteering many places, but especially at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where she was a founding member. In the last decade of her life, after Gus passed away, Linda was blessed with new friends and the loving support of staff at both Oak Park and the Village of St. Clair. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Tuesday July 30, 2019 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Parish prayers Tuesday at 4:30pm.
