Obituary of Annie Brescacin

BRESCACIN; ANNIE (Nee: Del Col) Born June 2nd, 1929 in Timmins, Ontario, and after a brief illness, died peacefully on July 25, 2019 with her family by her side. Married 50 years to the late Pietro (2004), and mother to the ever-loyal Gianpaolo (JP) and wife Diane. Proudest Nonna to Carly (Brian), Jenna and Jordan (Vanessa), and loving Nonnina to the newest prosciutto in the family, baby Mack. Predeceased by parents Vincenzo Del Col and Carmela Furlan, and brothers Enzo and Luciano. Survived by sister Vittorina (Edo) Lazzarotto and sister in-law Adriana Del Col of Italy, as well as many nieces and nephews. Nonna was one of the strongest women we knew, and had a fierce independence that she carried with her until the end, living alone, cooking for herself and cleaning the floors until after her 90th birthday. Her family was everything to her, and she was happiest when hosting weekly Sunday lunches, proudly cooking gnocchi, lasagna and risotto for her family. Nonna passed along many traits to her grand-children; her love of flowers to Carly, her gardening powers to Jordan, and her strong-willed nature to Jenna. She will be missed. The family would like to thank everyone involved in Nonna’s care, especially the extraordinary team at Hospice during her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Hospice of Windsor Essex County Inc. A private service has been held for the family.
