Obituary of Lorene Nina Antaya

ANTAYA, Lorene Nina (nee Brady) Born August 16, 1924 and passed away peacefully on December 8, 2020 at the age of 96. Predeceased by her loving husband Isidore (Bill) (1991). Loving mother of son John and Annette Antaya and daughter Carol and Wayne O’Neil. Cherished Meme of Michael (Cathy), Jeffrey, Christopher, James and Timothy Antaya and Anne Marie Prieur (Mike E.), Gregory (Amie) and Jeremy (Staci) O’Neil. Great-Meme to Daniel, Darian, Jade, Nolan Antaya, Dylan and Reece Prieur, and Jaidyn O’Neil. Lorene will be greatly missed by her godchildren Mary Jane Drew and David Cochois, and by all her nieces, nephews and the Brady cousins Anne, James, Christine and friends who she loved and enjoyed reminiscing with. She was very active at the Seniors Centre (Life after Fifty) and was recognized for 25 years of volunteering and dedication to the senior’s community. Lorene loved to crochet and make jewelry in her precious past time. She resided in her Tecumseh home since 1944 until her passing. She was a proud and independent woman who learned to drive at the age of 75 and hung up her keys at the age of 90. Lorene was reunited with her loving husband “Bill”, on his birthday December 8. A special thanks to the kind and loving nursing staff and doctors at Metropolitan Hospital especially Dr. Craig, Dr. Demarco and Dr. Kennette who provided care very compassionately. We are also very grateful for the wonderful caregivers from Bayshore, St. Elizabeth’s, VON and Lhyns who provided loving home support. A private family visitation and service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Interment to follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery. If you desire, donations in Lorene’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #594-Poppy Fund or Life After Fifty Senior’s Center would be greatly appreciated.
