Obituary of Ruby Viola Gobet

GOBET, Ruby<br/>May 17, 1938 - December 3, 2020<br/>It is with sorrowful hearts that we announce the passing of Ruby Gobet, age 82, on December 3, 2020, at Southampton hospital. She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, in 1938. She moved to Ontario where she met and married Josef Gobet in 1957. Ruby treasured her role as a mother and grandmother. She had a way of ensuring everyone knew that they were her favourite. Ruby was a foster parent in the Windsor area for over 40 years and passed this love on to over 100 children. She had 5 children: Wanza (deceased 2006) - (children Derrick, Shawna, Nathaniel & Myriah); Peter and wife Jane (children Graham, Ellen, Michael & Bryan); Meikel and wife Kathleen (children Vanessa, Amanda & Paul); Byron and partner Laurie (child Matthew); Wanette and husband Michael (child Hannah). She had a special relationship with her loving nieces, Deb, Sue, & Kim and their families. She was especially proud of her 16 great-grandchildren. Ruby lived her life with a love and degree of selflessness rarely seen. She enjoyed being part of the Port Elgin congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and made many beautiful connections and friendships. Out of respect for life and love, a private burial has already taken place. There will be a Zoom memorial service for Ruby. Please reach out to immediate family for details.
