Obituary of Florence Maria Raisbeck

RAISBECK Florence "Flo" Maria (nee Mauro) Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the age of 65 years. Dear daughter of the late Anna and Alessandro Mauro. Beloved wife of Brian Raisbeck. Cherished mother of Sarah Sclafani and husband Tony; Justin Raisbeck and wife Alex. Loving grandma of Gabriel, Hunter, Presley and baby to come in the new year. Devoted sister of Leonard Mauro. Special sister-in-law to Terry and Lenore Raisbeck, Joyce Ouellette, the late Grant Raisbeck and Cindy Mauro. Sweet aunt of Chris and Anne Mauro, Craig and Courtney Ouellette and Nicolas Ouellette. Florence also has many loving great-nieces/nephews and cousins. Deep appreciation to her cousin and best friend, Andreina Kobrosli, for a lifetime of love and support. Many thanks to the medical staff at St. Thomas General Hospital. Florence leaves behind a legacy intertwined with theatre, teaching, marriage and her love of family and friends. December 1st would be 46 years of marriage to her high school sweetheart, Brian. 46 years filled with love, children, grandchildren, adventure, cottages, family, friends, hard times and happiness. Her family was her world and she was happiest being surrounded by them, especially her grandkids. Sarah, Justin, Tony and Alex will forever be impacted by her love. As a teacher for 20 years, she had a positive impact on her students and teaching friends. She was often labeled as a favourite teacher by her students many years after they had her. Florence brought Theatre Alive to life for 30 years as a Producer with her husband Brian as the Artistic Director. She produced 39 shows that have provided a stage for thousands of actors, dancers and musicians and entertained tens of thousands of patrons through the years. Theatre Alive became more than just theatre. It was a second family to everyone involved. Florence was not one to be in the spotlight getting the applause, but she was the driving force, behind the scenes managing the business to give the dreamers a place to play and weave their magic. Her influence has reached far and wide and helped launch professional careers in the arts. She fought a hard battle against Scleroderma for 26 years and inspired everyone with her courage and bravery. Her strength and determination will never be forgotten.
