Obituary of Josip Kovacic

KOVACIC, Josip (Joe) Our wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 30th, 2018. He passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family in his 91st year. Born in Laslavici, Bosiljevo, Croatia to late parents Franjo and Barbara Kovacic. Beloved husband to Anne (nee Korenic) with whom he celebrated 67 blessed years of marriage. Loving and devoted father of Frank, Ljubica and Mike Horvat and Mary and Ken Zytner. Cherished Dede to Jacqueline, Jason (Dawn), Zachary, Daniel and Jarrod. Adored Pradida to Jaylyn and Alexa. Dear brother to Ljubica Kovacic (late Karl). Dear brother-in-law to Danica Korenic (late Josip), Steve and Zorka Korenic, Marica and Janko Novosel. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joe was a proud retiree of Dominion Forge with 25 years of service. He was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church where he previously served on the parish council, including past president and devoted many hours to the building of the present church. Josip was also a proud member of the Croatian Fraternal Union and Drustvo Bosiljevo. He was a devoted family man who had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A heartfelt thank you to ParaMed and St. Elizabeth Healthcare for their professional and compassionate care provided to Josip and our family. Visiting at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Central Chapel), 1700 Tecumseh Rd, E., 519-253-7234 on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Parish prayers at 8 pm. Funeral Service on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 9:15 am from the Funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10 am. Internment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund.
