He served in the Sicilian Air Force in his late teens and was a Policeman during his early twenties. He also was a barber and did other jobs before coming to America at the age of 28. He stopped in Windsor, Ontario before moving to Detroit in 1955, and got a job as a dishwasher/cook. His English was poor but somehow he was able to get Mary"s attention and asked her out on a date. Two years later they were married in Windsor at Most Precious Blood Church and soon they moved to Detroit where he worked as a bartender. The local taxicab drivers would stop in the bar and talk to Angelo about driving a cab. He willingly became a taxi driver and had to learn the streets of Detroit on his own. As a result, he became a successful Taxi owner and driver with many customers along the way. He, Mary and Michael moved to Warren, MI in 1975 and he stayed in the taxi business for nearly 40 years, finally retiring at 70 years old. Angelo was the son of Michael and Concetta (ne. Messina). A loving brother to the late Sam Pantano (Mimma) and the late Angelina Geraci (Christoforo). In his retirement years, Angelo tended to his garden every year and grew many vegetables. Tomatoes were his favorite and they were used to make sauce for pasta which Mary prepared for dinner every single night. He was affectionately known to many as Papps (short for Pappa) and enjoyed his 2 favorite beverages , Manhatten"s and Wine with family and friends. Angelo"s family would like to extend many thanks to the staff at Cherrywood of Sterling Heights, Doctor Langness and Doctor Boxwala.
