Obituary of Iria DeCarolis

DECAROLIS, Iria It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Nonna and Bis-Nonna Iria DeCarolis. She has returned to her heavenly home at the age of 89. Iria is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Domenico. Loving mother to Vincenza “Nancy” Vitella (Aldo), Elio DeCarolis (Alana), and Dalia Difazio (Frank). Her legacy and memory continues through her cherished grandchildren Melissa Lockhart (Anthony), Mark Vitella (Angie), Bianca Antonucci (Andrew), Nick Fantetti, Michael DeCarolis (Dawn-Marie), Natalie DeCarolis, Felicia DeMarco (Raimondo). Proud Bisnonna to Matteo, Anthony, Ariana, Ava, Milla, Gianluca, Presley, and Sebastian. Iria was born in Vicalvi, Italy and is predeceased by her parents Donato and Angela DiCarlo and father in-law and mother in-law Domenico and Vincenza DeCarolis. Beloved sister of the late Elda and Orazio Mollicone, the late Olimpia and Mario Santoro, Anna Iacobelli (Alfredo), the late Dario and Pia DiCarlo, the late Ersilio and Teresa DiCarlo, Enza and the late Pietro Carlesimo. Sister in-law of the late Maria and Onorio Fanelli, and the late Domenica and Domenico D’ Agostini. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Iria is renowned for her expert crocheting, as her creations have adorned many homes throughout the years. Her passion for gardening and cooking have been passed down to her children, who will continue her traditions with much love and respect. Her family, whom she loved dearly and unconditionally, was the beat of her heart and the pride of her life’s accomplishments. She retired from Hotel Dieu Grace after 23 years of service. Iria was a founding member of the Ciociaro Club, and faithful member of the Madonna Rosario Association.Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 1:00 pm – 4:00pm & 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Parish prayers at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30am on Monday, October 26, 2020 at St. Angela Merici Church. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
