Obituary of Fr. Dennis J. Wilhelm

WILHELM, Rev. Dennis J. Born on July 27, 1947 and passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 14, 2017 at the age of 70. Son of Mary Wilhelm and the late Adam (2009). Brother of Suzanne (Sue) Hotham (Bernie), Carol Rice (Jeff), Mark (Gus) Wilhelm (Katie), and Michael Wilhelm (Margaret). Uncle of Brad, Allison and Adam Hotham, Matthew and Colin Rice, Patrick and Meagan Wilhelm, Trevor and Taylor Wilhelm. Great Uncle to Jaxson, Avery, Lilly, Emerson, Mason and Ellie. Fr. Dennis attended Corpus Christi High School and then to Humber College in Toronto where he obtained a Ontario Funeral Directors Licence. He worked at the Marcotte Funeral Homes in Windsor and Tecumseh for 15 years full time and 5 years part-time. He entered St. Peter"s Seminary in 1981 where he obtained a B.A. and Masters of Divinity from the University of Western Ontario. He was ordained on April 30th, 1988. He served the Diocese of London as an associate pastor at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Mt. Carmel, Ont., St. Michael"s German Church, Windsor,Ontario as Administator, St. Mary"s Church in Woodstock, St. Justin "s Parish, in London. He was Pastor of Holy Family Parish, Wallaceburg for 11 years then was Pastor of St. Joseph"s Parish, Chatham, Ontario. In 2009, he became Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Fr. Dennis also served on the Diocesan Salary Committee, Diocesan Loan Fund, Personnel Committee, Council of Priests. He also was a Chaplain for the Chatham-Kent Police Services while in Chatham. He was President of the Corpus/Brennan Alumni Association at the time of their 25th Anniversary celebration. Fr. Dennis was also a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234 on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 7-9 pm. Knights of Columbus prayers Saturday at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (834 Raymo Rd.) from 3 to 9 p.m. Parish Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue of Monday from 10am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
