Obituary of Marcel Joseph Dagenais

DAGENAIS, Dr. Marcel, passed away on November 12, 2017 surrounded by family and godson Angelo Lombardo at the age of 81. Beloved husband and lifelong companion to Gloria (nee Roy). Cherished father to Michel (Michelle), David and Monique (Girish). Proud P"p" to Chantal, Gabriel, Rachel, Anya and Nadia. Brother to Roger (Helen), John (Helene), Carmen Willms, Larry (Joan) and Danny. Predeceased by parents Donat (1988), Germaine (1993), as well as sister Jeannine Sturam (2014). Marcel will be missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and judokas. Marcel taught for the Windsor Separate School Board for 30yrs; received his Doctorate in Education from Wayne State University in 1988, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He taught judo for 5 decades while achieving his 5th degree black belt, and founded the Furukawa Judo Club in 1990. Marcel had a passion for music and in 2014, he released two CDs, one of which, "Francis Our True Shepherd", made its way to Pope Francis at the Vatican. A special thank you to the entire staff of 6 West at WRH Ouellette Campus, especially Carl Sweet and Connie Reaume. Visiting will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. East, 519-253-7234 on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm with Knights of Columbus Prayers at 7:30pm. Visiting will continue on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Good Shepherd Parish, 462 Advance Blvd., Tecumseh from 9:30am until time of Funeral Mass at 10am. Burial to follow at St. William's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcel"s name to The Good Shepherd Parish Building Fund or to the charity of your choice.
