Obituary of Deanne Wallendorf Wren

WREN, Deanne Wallendorf - Our dear Gran Dee, as she was known to her grandchildren, passed peacefully on the morning of September 25, at her home in Windsor, Ontario, at the age of 90. Born in Hollywood, California on April 25, 1927, Bette Deanne Wallendorf was raised in Jefferson City, Missouri and Coral Gables, Florida. She was a golf champion as a teenager, living in a house that overlooked the world famous Biltmore Hotel and Country Club in Coral Gables. After high-school, Deanne attended Stephens College, in Columbia, Missouri. It was there, on a blind date, that she met her future husband, Joe. They married in 1948, and moved to Toronto in 1950, where their children were born and raised, in a beautiful home Deanne designed in the Bridle Path area of Toronto.Deanne traveled the world many times, first with Joe and their friends from the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) in the 1960"s and 1970"s, and later, she went on many grand journeys with her children, grandchildren, and close friends. Deanne was a Life Master, many times over, at duplicate bridge and a champion curler at The Granite Club. She was a life-long member of Rosedale Golf Club and The Granite Club in Toronto, as well as The Surf Club and La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach.Deanne moved away from Toronto in 2015, and enjoyed a quieter life in small-town Windsor for the summer and fall, and then as a snowbird in winter, at the bustling retirement city in central Florida, called The Villages. In her final months, all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were able to visit her often, both in Windsor, and at The Villages.Deanne was pre-deceased by her husband Joseph Goree Wren, daughter Wendy Lewis Wren Rosch, and grandson Joseph Campbell Rosch. She will spend eternity with them in a small cemetery in College Corner, Ohio, the birthplace of her mother, Emily Gertrude Pults Wallendorf.
