Obituary of Nikola Palameta

PALAMETA, Nikola It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Nikola, a loving Husband, Tata and Dida on July 25, 2017 at the age of 79. Born on January 28, 1938 in Misljen, Hercegovina. Beloved husband to Danica (Nee Kresic) with whom he celebrated 54 years of blessed marriage. Loving and devoted Tata to his late son Tomislav (Tom) Palameta (2015) and his surviving wife Linda, Tina Papac and husband Nikola, Ivan (John) Palameta and wife Sandy. Cherished and adored Dida to Cristian, Benjamin, Alana, Daniela, Ivan, Lorena, Kaitlyn and Matthew. Predeceased by his parents Misko and Zora Palameta and siblings Mara, Ivan, Ilija, Stjepo, Mijo, Jozo, Tomislav and Vlatko. Dear brother to Ivica Stjepovic of Croatia and Bojana Oberan of Hercegovina. Nikola is survived by many nieces and nephews in Hercegovina, Croatia, Canada and the USA. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of dedicated service and was a member of CAW Local 200. Nikola was a faithful and devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church since 1968 and he was chosen as the Kum (Godfather) for the new church in 1981. A man of great faith, endless devotion to his family and very proud of his Croatian heritage, Nikola adopted Canada as his home and was very appreciative for the many opportunities that Canada provided for him and his family. Nikola was a humble man who lived life with the utmost integrity. He was a selfless man who always put others before himself. His true pride and joy in his life were his grandchildren whom he called his "Zlato Didino". Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel ) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E 519-253-7234 on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Parish Prayers at 8pm. Funeral Services on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 9:15am from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church (1701 Turner Rd) for Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Nikola"s life, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund.
