Obituary of Giuseppe Spadotto

Giuseppe (Beppi) Spadotto March 27, 1928 In sorrow we announce the passing of Giuseppe in his 90th year at Metropolitan Hospital on May 26, 2017 after a brave journey through Alzheimer"s. Cherished husband of 60 years to Mirella (nee Famiglio). Much loved father of Eros (Lisa) and Denise (Paul Greco). Adored Nonno of Nicole, David and Gioia. Treasured Zio of nephews-like-sons Ivo (Shirley) and Lou (Charlene). Special Zio and Bis-Zio to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Alzheimer"s seemed to scatter his memories in the wind but we carefully caught them because to us Giuseppe and his stories will never be forgotten. Giuseppe grew up in Azzano Decimo, Italy and is predeceased by his parents and all eight of his brothers and sisters. He served in the mountain infantry corps of the Italian Army, the Alpini, in 1949. Together with his new bride he came to Canada in 1957 in search of a better life. He showed us the meaning of work ethic in all that he did including his work at Collavino Construction and as a member of CAW 444 at Chrysler Canada. He impressed upon us the importance of heritage, tradition and fellowship especially through his beloved Giovanni Caboto Club. He passionately loved to watch and cheer all sports particularly hockey and soccer. He toiled with care over his meticulous garden and loved to sit down to a giant plate of pasta and a glass of homemade wine. He knew that laughter made everything better and always had a constant dose of silliness for everyone and an infectious smile that could light up any room. Beppi"s smile was always brightest when he was with family and friends and most especially his grandchildren. A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Metropolitan Hospital who took such good care of dad. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel), 1700 Tecumseh Road, East (519-253-7234), on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 3:00pm " 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm " 9:00 pm. Parish prayers will take place at 4:30 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 8:45 am from the funeral home going to St. Angela Merici Church, 980 Louis Avenue, for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am. Entombment will follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. In kindness, memorial tributes may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County. Your Life was love and labour, Your love for your family true, You did your best for all of us, We will always remember you. You left us beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide, And though we cannot see you You"re always at our side.
