GUALTIERI, SALVATORE "Sam" Born in Rovito, Cosenza, Italy on December 22, 1928. Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on April 4, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Loving and devoted husband of 63 years to Giovannina (Joanne) (neeDeNapoli). Cherished father of Frank, Tony and wife Gianna. Adored Nonno of Hollie. Beloved brother of Filippo and wife Vittoria, Windsor; the late Maria and late husband Lorenzo, Italy. Dear brother-in-law of Pasquale and wife Margaret, Peter, Rose and husband Gino, all of Windsor; Amedeo and wife Ida (late Ada) Spadafora, Lansing, MI. Adored Son of the late Francesco and Ester Gualtieri. Adored son-in-law of the late Michele and Anna Denapoli. Dear uncle of Mario, Alfredo, Carol, Mike, (late) John, Paul, Suzie, Annie, Carlo, Silvia & all their families, as well as Brandon and Dayna. Special uncle to Padre Don Antonio Adamo of Italy. Special nephew to Luigina (Gina) & late husband Consolato Marciano. Survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews in Canada, USA, and Italy. Sam immigrated to Canada in 1949. He was a dedicated long-time employee of the 7 UP Bottling Company and the Pop Shoppe. He was well-known in the community as "the pop man" of JOY Home Beverages delivering quality soft drinks to families throughout Windsor. Long-time parishioner of St. Angela Merici Church & founding member of the San Francesco di Paola Society. Sam was devoted to the Italian community and his church. His love for God and family was great. Sam greatly enjoyed spending time with family & friends, had a passion for wine-making, and loved his garden (especially his tomato plants). He was a handy-man who built many treasures his family will cherish for years to come. Special thanks to the staff of CCAC, St. Elizabeth, Bayshore, Perri-Med, Hospice of Windsor, and the Doctors & staff at Windsor Regional Met Campus for their tremendous support and care. Special thanks to R.N. Joe Garro for his compassionate care.Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234 on Thursday April 6, 2017 from 7 to 9pm and Friday April 7, 2017 from 2-5 & 7-9 pm. English prayers at 4:30pm and Italian prayers at 8:00pm. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 8:45 am from the Funeral Home then to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Donations may be made in memory of Salvatore to Windsor Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation or to the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
