Obituary of Maurice Joseph DeKindt

Passed away peacefully at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family on January 12, 2017. Reunited with his parents Joseph and Tina DeKindt, and his sister Dorothy VanDamme. Beloved husband to Marilyn (nee Elmslie), with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Cherished father to Diane DeKindt of Alberta, Denise Montgomery and David Masse of Lasalle, David DeKindt and Marion Keith of Windsor, Chris and Laurie DeKindt of McGregor. Proud grandfather to Joseph, Eric, Scott and Tom Montgomery; Melissa Damphouse; Larry and Kristin Ryan; Dan Cockerham; Jennifer, Jack, Ken, Christina and great grandfather to 6 great grandchildren. After graduating from the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, Maurice retired after many dedicated years at Green Giant as an Agricultural Supervisor. He was a lifetime member of the Riverside Knights of Columbus, a choir member at St. John Vianney, member of the Senior Windsor Essex Baseball team, and was proud to have completed the Detroit Free Press Marathon. A special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff at Hospice of Windsor for all the care and compassion shown to Maurice. At Maurice"s request, cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234 on Sunday January 15, 2017 from 2-5 pm. Memorial Service will take place on Monday January 16, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel. In memory of Maurice, donations may be made to Hospice of Windsor.
