GIGNAC, Raymond C. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Clarence Gignac on December 30, 2016, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family. He will be sadly missed by his wife Ruth (nee Jewell) of 58 years. Loving father to Chris (Mary), Tim, Cathy Meloche (Dave) and Marjie (Rob). Proud grandfather to Michelle, Tim Jr., Jami (Roger), Erin (Patrick), Cayle, Amanda, Jackson and Robert. Predeceased by his parents Leo and Pearl. Dear brother to the late John (Helen), Jeanne (Dan), and Bobby, and brother in law to Billy Jewell (Nikki), Betty Cheswick (late Bruce), Marge Chapman (late George), Phyllis LePain, Becky McGaw (Gerald), late Donald Jewell (Barb), Madeline Owen (late Ken), Francis Beaulieu (late Don), and Monica Jewell. Lifetime best buddy of Emer Theriault and Earl LePain. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Ray was a Chrysler Canada employee for 46 years, retiring in 2000. He was the Local 1498 Union President for 10 years and was a loyal Union activist until the end. Ray was a member of the Master Bargaining Committee for many tough negotiations. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus #2775. Ray was a diehard Red Wings fan, and one of the best people to have on your team for a game of Trivial Pursuit. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Henry Fortuna for his compassion and care shown to Ray. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd.
