Obituary of Vera Venisia Baker

BAKER, Vera Venisia (nee Rawson) August 12, 1923-May 13, 2016 Surrounded by her loving family, Venisia passed away peacefully at WRH-Ouellette Campus on May 13, 2016 at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Reunited with her beloved husband Robert (1989) with whom she celebrated 44 years of marriage. She was the heart of our family and cherished mother of Gilda Everett (Wayne), Robert Baker, Marcia Stiers (1999), Andrea Sulyok, Heather Sabbadin and Roberta Baker. Adored Nana to Jim Baker (Krysta), Julie Everett Batten (Jeff), Scott Everett (Sarah), Daniel Gobeil, Patrick & Peter Stiers, Andrew Sulyok (Kaitlin), Trisha Kalinowski (Fred), Brittany Russell (Mike), Julian Bernon. Proud Great Nana to Rogen Baker; Hunter, Chase & Sawyer Batten; Finn (2011) & Kai Everett; Lola Gobeil; Brady (2013) & Lola Sulyok; Jordan, Taylor & Hayleigh Granville; Kendell Russell, Sakura Marci Stiers and Great Great Nana to Bryland Beaton. Venisia loved her family with all her heart, rocked and sang lullabies to all the babies, loved her Christmas tree decorated with Angels and kept it on display for months, led us in marathon holiday cookie baking sessions, was a huge Detroit Tigers fan with their licence plate proudly displayed on her walker, loved to read and knit and sing, play the piano and mouth organ. Our family will never be the same without her. She is finally reunited with her beloved husband and at peace. Originally from England, she will be fondly remembered by her family who reside there. Special thanks to our mothers dearest friend Janice who shared her joy of singing with the church choir; theirs was a special bond that will always be remembered. We will forever appreciate the compassionate care given to Mom by the 8 th floor and 2 North nurses and care team. At Venisia"s request, cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (East Chapel) 519-253-7234 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. The family invites relatives and friends to Lakeshore St. Andrews Church (235 Amy Croft Dr.) on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at 11:00 am for a celebration of our Mother"s life.
