Obituary of Antonio Joseph Lopes

Tony Lopes passed away peacefully on February 1, 2016 with Winifred, his wife of 61 years, by his side. The son of Arturo Lopes and Albertina Lopes Marinho, Tony was born in Macau in 1926 and emigrated to Windsor Ontario in 1958. He worked as Director of Personnel/Human Resources at Windsor Western Hospital for over 25 years and was deeply committed to Catholic community work through Assumption Church and service organizations too numerous to mention. Tony loved to eat, sing, laugh and tell terrible jokes. He will be remembered for his legendary generosity, his beautiful voice and his commitment to community. He is survived by his loving wife Winifred, daughters Josephine (Ron Dumouchelle), Teresa (Phillip Round), Marie (Denis Gautier) and Christina, grandchildren Michael and Stephen Dumouchelle, Antonio Lopes-Round, Katie Findlay and Simon Lopes, his sister Marie Viera, sister-in-law Frances Lopes and many nieces and nephews. Tony is predeceased by his brother Edward and sisters Tessie and Alice. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Friday February 5, 2016 from 6-9 pm. Family and friends will be received at Our Lady of Assumption Church (711 McEwan Ave.) on Saturday February 6, 2016 from 9:30 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
