Obituary of Martha Petruk

PETRUK, Martha (nee Fedchun) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Mother Martha, on January 25, 2016, lovingly surrounded by her family. Reunited with her beloved husband Nicholas (1978). Loving Mother of Robert Petruk (Julianna), Betty Lemmo (Emanuele), and Fred Petruk (Lesia). Most loved Baba of Rob Petruk (Kristy), Taisa Petruk, Anthony Lemmo (Michelle), Nicholas Lemmo (Gillian), Andrew Petruk (Katrusia), and Larissa Petruk (Dave). Prababa of Zenon and Ryan. Dear Sister of the late Bohdan Fedchun, Yvonne Tymochko, Olena Hrabarchuk, and Harry Fedchun. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Martha was a lifelong member of St Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral and was deeply involved and devoted to her Ukrainian heritage. In her youth she was a member of the church youth group CYMK. She served for many years as a Sunday School Teacher and was an active member of the church choir. She was the secretary for the Ukrainian senior's club Zolotas Zhoda as well as a member of the Lesia Ukrainka Women"s Organization (Windsor Branch). Martha also enjoyed participating weekly in the preparation of pyrohy and cabbage rolls at the church until recently. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and rejoiced in the birth of her great grandsons. Mom and Baba was cherished for her many words of wisdom, acts of kindness and unconditional love. She will be dearly missed by many. Special thanks to the CCAC, the staff at Windsor Regional Metropolitan Campus ICU and Ouellette campus CCU. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Panakhyda will be held at 7:30 pm. Family and friends are requested to meet at St. Vladimir"s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral (2000 Tecumseh Rd. E.) on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Very Reverend Archpriest Roman Kocur officiating. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, donations to honour Martha"s life may be made to St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 2000 Tecumseh Road East, Windsor, ON, N8W 1E2, or to Ukrainian Orthodox Church Holy Ascension, Arran-Kobzar, SK., c/o PO Box 3467, The Pas, MB, R9A 1S2. The latter is a church built on the original Fedchun family homestead and this site is designated as a Heritage Property.
