Obituary of Lino Silvaggi

SILVAGGI, Lino It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lino Silvaggi on January 3, 2016 at 83 years of age. Loving husband of Angela for 59 years. Dearest father of Diana Bassakos (Chris) and Perry (Liana). Cherished Nonno of Andrea, Athena, Erica, Jacey, Andrew and Dean. Predeceased by his parents Gaetana and Pasquale and in-laws Antonio and Lucia Savone. Survived by cherished, loving sisters Peppina Alfini (late Lorenzo) and Nella Civiero (Ivo), brother Lorenzo (Santina), brother-in-law Carmine Savone and sister-in-law Agostina Pizzuti (Giovanni). Predeceased by brothers Giovanni (late Edda), Aldo (late Liliana) and Luigi (late Angelina) and dearest sister Francesca Pidutti (Vittorio). Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Lino was a master of all trades and was very proud of his creation and replica of the John Cabot boat that stands in front of the Caboto Club today. Lino was an active member of the Giovanni Caboto Club as well as the Ciociaro Club of Windsor. A very special thank-you to Dr. Yap and all the nursing staff that took excellent care of Lino on the 8th, 7th and 2nd floor at Windsor-Regional Hospital - Ouellette Campus. Lino was loved by all who knew him. Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel), 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7234) on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m and on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service to celebrate Lino's life at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Downtown Mission.
