Obituary of Gordon James Batstone
BATSTONE, Gordon (Gord) James It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Gord on October 5, 2015 in his 75th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 53 years Gay (nee Kent), children Barb & Greg, Laura & Mark and Dan. Beloved papa to Colin & Heather, Mick & Cassie, Derek & Jess and Marcie. Special great-grandpapa to Ruby. Predeceased by parents Eva & Charles Batstone. Dear brother of Murphy & Gert Shuker, B.C., Lois & Bob Thoms, Kingsville and Bev & Lee Daly, Phoenix. Loving brother in-law of Janette & Karl Ryckman, Chatham and Shauna Johnstone, Kanata. Missed by his furry companions Jack & Jill. Predeceased by sister Joan O"Reilley, brother & sister in-law Lynn (Sonny) & Anne Batstone and brother in-law Tim Kent. Gord will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Gord was a loyal and proud employee of Ford Motor Company as an electrician for 40 years. He was an avid coin collector and member of the Windsor Coin Club, served on the Board of Directors of the Tecumseh Baseball Club and was an associate member of HMCS Huron Association. He loved fishing and playing cards, especially at the cottage with everyone around. The family would like to thank the staff of Iler Lodge (Essex) for their compassionate and loving care of Gord in his last months, Rose Russell & the staff of the Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex for their support and guidance throughout Gord"s journey with Alzheimers, and the staff of the ICU and 7th Floor Palliative Care Unit, Met Campus, for their care of Gord in his final days. At Gord"s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Gord"s life will take place at a later date. In memory of Gord, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family (envelopes available at the funeral home).
