Obituary of Ilija Bacic

BACIC, Ilija "Ely" It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Ilija, a loving husband, father and grandfather on August 3, 2015 at Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouellette Campus, just shy of his 93rd birthday. Beloved husband of 62 years to Katie "Kata" (nee Novacic). Loving and devoted father to Marlene Rukavina and husband John "Ivica", and Linda Jurkovic and husband Ivica "John". Proud Grandpa (Dida) to Dr. Stephen Rukavina, Katie and husband Dr. Nick Vukotic, Shane Jurkovic and fiancee Ally McLean, and Jacqueline Jurkovic. Dear brother to Mile Bacic and wife Marija of Croatia, late Ika Zurak of Croatia, late Manda Lepur and surviving husband Ive of Croatia, late Tomo Bacic and surviving wife Tereza of Windsor, and late Ivan Bacic and surviving wife Jelka of Macomb MI. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A., and Croatia. Ely was a retired employee of Chrysler Canada with over 30 years of dedicated service and was a member of CAW Local 444 and devoted and faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Berkshire Convalescent Care Program, to Dr. Logan, Dr. Stresman and the entire nursing team at Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouellette Campus for the care and compassion extended to Ely and our family. East, on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers Friday at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
