Obituary of Gimi Simoni

SIMONI, Gimi It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gimi on April 24, 2015, peacefully surrounded by his family. Loving husband to Filomena (nee Tomei) for 61 years. Devoted father to Maria Teresa Morano and son-in-law Ennio and Luigi Simoni (Sherri). Proud Nonno to Marco (Jamila), Alesandro (Emmilie) Morano, Nicole (John) Campagna, James Simoni (Amanda) and Ashley Simoni. Godfather to Mike Casoni. Gimi was a proud Bisnonno to Isabella, Victoria, Cecilia, Benjamin and baby to come. Predeceased by parents Maria Teresa and Luigi Simoni, brother Bruno and sister Marisa and most recently by brother and best friend Ezio Simoni. Dearest son-in-law to the late Lucia and Teodoro Tomei. Survived by very close siblings Mirella and brother-in-law Pietro Mancini, Viviana and brother-in-law Vincenzo Altobelli, Annamaria and brother-in-law Angelo Stantangeli of Italy, and the late sister-in-law Edda Simoni. Survived by special brother-in-law Amedeo Tomei and wife Linda of Montreal. Gimi was a respected and loved uncle to many nieces and nephews both in Canada and Italy. Gimi was born in Patrica, Frosinone, Italy on September 22, 1931. He was the proud business owner of S & M Meconi Importers for many years. He enjoyed hunting, took great pleasure in gardening and sharing fruits and vegetables with family and friends. He was also a proud member of the Ciociaro Club and past president of the men"s Bocciafila group for many years. He will be missed by many. A special thank you to Doctors Chao, Rajkumar, Italiano and Gyetvai and the 4 North nursing staff, especially Amiee of Windsor Regional Hospital- Metropolitan Campus. Also, a special thank you to our family physician Dr. Amed Chaker for his countless home visits. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel), 519-253-7234, 1700 Tecumseh Road E., on Tuesday April 28, 2015 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday April 29, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
