Obituary of Reynaldo Carlos Garcia

GARCIA, Reynaldo "Rey" 77, of Windsor, joined his Lord and Saviour on April 10, 2015 in the loving arms of his beloved wife Ely. Rey was born in the Philippines on Aug 17, 1937. He graduated from University of the East with a business degree. He married the love of his life Dr. Ely Maroon to whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Rey was a professional basketball player for Crispa (Philippines). He worked for Amon Trading and later became the Chief Operating Officer of Marble Trading Company along with a Security Company in the Philippines. He migrated with his family to Windsor and was employed by Hotel Dieu Hospital for 20 years. Rey enjoyed sports, playing basketball, cooking and reading. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Elisa, his daughters Josephine (Joi) Horvath & husband David of Windsor and Rowena Butler & husband Clyde of Little Rock, Arkansas. Cherished grandfather to Jordan & Nigel Butler and Benjamin & Andrew Horvath. Dear brother to Remedios Dominguez (Wally) of Chicago, Mercedes Garcia of the Philippines and Teresita Garcia of England. Dear brother-in-law of Josefa Aguilar (Ricardo) of Windsor, Renato and Evelyn of the Philippines, Cenen and Adel Maroon of the Philippines, Isabelita and Romulo Pascua of Michigan, Remedios Espino (Mars) of the Philippines. Rey was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Paul Watson Council 8919 at Our Lady of the Atonement Parish. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Parish prayers and Knight of Columbus at 7:30pm. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Our Lady of the Atonement Church (2940 Forest Glade Dr.) on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
