Obituary of Mary Demartin

1924-2015 On Easter Sunday, the 5th of April, at 05:00am, Mary De Martin (nee Dragomir), a lifelong resident of Windsor slipped quietly and peacefully away at the Wellesley Rekai Centre in Toronto. She would have been 91 on April 28th. Members of her adoring family were nearby, having spent the final days with her, holding her hands, and whispering their final goodbyes to her as she passed. She is survived by her son Larry De Martin and daughter-in-law Emily of LaSalle, and her daughter Patricia De Martin Morehouse and son-in-law David Morehouse of Las Vegas, NV. Her life will also be celebrated and remembered by 5 loving grandchildren, Jeff De Martin, Jackie De Martin, Kelly Cargnelli of Windsor, Jason Appleby, Courtney Appleby of Toronto, and great grandchildren Peyton and Zackary Cargnelli. Mary fawned over each of them all the days of her life. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Sunny Gasparet and Alma Srednicki and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Roger De Martin, son Thomas De Martin, daughter Janet De Martin, brother Bill Dragomir. Mary was born to Mike and Lena Dragomir in Bienfait, Saskatchewan. Mary graduated from W. D. Lowe high school and began work as a secretary before she met her sweetheart. She was happily married to Roger De Martin, for 66 years before his passing in 2007. Roger was a retired foreman from Ford Motor Company, who met, courted and married his sweetheart Mary, while the two worked at Advanced Machine & Tool in Windsor. Roger and Mary raised their family in Windsor, which the pair always cherished as the source of friends, family and happiness. They were a devoted and loving couple, who loved their children and stood strong through the unthinkable adversity of losing two of them, Thomas in 1977, and Janet in 1995. Together, they remained strong and present, ever focused on their son Larry and daughter, Patricia. When Roger passed in 2007, Mary claimed she never lived a day where Roger was not on her mind; she loved him so dearly. The two shored one another through all of their years. Mary loved making people laugh and it didn"t matter how as long as she could see joy in another"s face. She loved being around friends and family and sharing their life stories. She was always happiest when she was with people, and it did not matter the occasion. She continually found common ground from which to converse, and treasured her friends dearly. Her life was rich, long and varied. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 519-253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd.
