Obituary of Villa Simonetti

SIMONETTI, Villa
March 17, 1922-August 2, 2020
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and nonno Villa. He left this earth to be with his cherished wife Teresa (2019). He leaves behind his children, Giacinto a.k.a Jessie (Marie-Claire), Clara a.k.a Simm (Douglas) and Maria a.k.a Mo (Richard). Also, his adoring grandchildren Kristina Patrick-Khan (Michael), Gabriel and Sebastien (Dina-Marie Aiuto). Born in Colloto, Italy to the late Giacinto Simonetti and Teresa (nee Lori). He is survived by his sisters Chiarina and Domenica (Mario), and sister in-laws Franca and Maria. He was predeceased by his brothers Marino, Marco and Severino. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and extended family everywhere. And he will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. Dad immigrated to Canada in March 1949. He was a World War II Veteran and was conscripted into Military Service at the age of 18. Upon Dad’s arrival in Canada, he worked very hard to be able to sponsor his brothers and sisters and other family members to come to Canada for a better life. Dad wore many hats throughout his lifetime. He was passionate about gardening, wine making, and for caring for his fig tree. He loved doing construction work and loved working with his hands. He was a Chrysler Retiree (Local 444) and a past member of the Labourer’s Local #625. Our many thanks to his dear neighbours, especially Kathy and Steve Laslavic, and a heartfelt thank you to the many wonderful caring staff at the Village of Aspen Lake, especially the LaSalle neighbourhood. Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7234) on Wednesday August 5, 2020 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday August 6, 2020 at St. Theresa Parish (1991 Norman Rd.) at 10am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest. If attending, please be mindful of restricted attendance numbers and please remember to wear a mask. If so desired, donations to Justica for Migrant Workers- Leamington (720 Spadina Avenue, Suite 223-Toronto, ON M5S 2T9) in memory of Villa, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
