Obituary of Dr. Prem Kumar Rai

Dr. Prem Kumar Rai, 67, of Lakeshore, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2015 surrounded by his family. Prem was born in Puttur, India. He was married to Dr. Veena K. Rai on October 21, 1973; they were happily married for 41 years. Prem graduated from Manipal Medical College. He received a diploma in Anaesthetics from the Royal College, United Kingdom, and subsequently his Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Psychiatry, Canada. Prem practiced Clinical Psychiatry in Windsor, Ontario for 26 years. He enjoyed travelling the world, golfing, watching cricket, gourmet dining and bonding with his puppy, Dobie. Prem is survived by his two children, Dr. Samhitha Rai and Dr. Greeshma Shetty and her husband Dr. Sanjay Shetty; his 2 grandchildren Sachin and Amani; and the rest of his relatives and friends. Memorial Service will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Banwell Chapel) 519-253-7234, 11677 Tecumseh Rd E. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Words of Remembrance will be shared at 6:00pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to the Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation be considered.
